The Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express® works in conjunction with the Delta SkyMiles program for frequent flyer miles. This card is ideal for frequent travelers that spend under $50K on their credit card, as it has the lowest annual fee ($95) of the three Delta SkyMiles credit cards. The one caveat is that this is an airline specific rewards card which requires points to be redeemed for travel on Delta or its partners. Here is a look at the card:

- There is no annual fee in the first full year.
- Users can earn 20,000 bonus miles on their first purchase with the card, which amounts to a $200 value. These points are redeemable for flights.
- Users can earn up to 5,000 bonus miles for referring and signing up additional cardholders to their account. The deal is 2,500 bonus miles per cardholder added, with a maximum of 2 additional cardholders to the user’s account.
- Users can earn 2 miles for each dollar spent on Delta and Northwest purchases, to include Delta Vacations packages and all Delta or Northwest flights.
- Users can earn 1 mile for each dollar spent on most purchases.
- There is a 9.99% introductory APR for balance transfers in the first full year. This isn't a great APR for balance transfers as the way to save the most money transferring a balance is when there is a 0% introductory balance transfer rate. Following this period, the APR for balance transfers will be 14.5%.
- Bonus miles are redeemable at 10,000 miles for $100 discounts on Delta or Northwest flights.
- Free baggage checking for the first bag on Delta Airlines is exclusively available for users. Each reservation or flight booked with Delta offers one bag free for up to 9 people, with a potential savings of $50 per person.
- Bonus miles never expire.
The Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card is preferable for frequent flyers on Delta Airlines. The SkyMiles program allows users to save money on future flights. However, perhaps the most notable benefit of the card is that new accounts are given 20,000 SkyMiles ($200 value) after making their first purchase.
